THE WILCOX FAMILY HOMEPAGE

THE LEGEND OF THE CHINESE DRAGON

I am a farmer and people in town say there is a dragon that lives where my land is.  They said he ate people.  I was afraid and one day I met a boy.  His left leg was gone.  He said that the dragon had bitten it off.  I was more afraid.  I thought the dragon was mean.

The next morning I saw a cave.  I got my weed-whacker and went in.  I saw a big red dragon. I ran out of the cave.  I was so frightened.   The people in town were right.

I wouldn’t go outside, but one day I had to.  My crop was dying and I went to my field.  I saw the cave and I went in again.  There was nothing inside.  I looked everywhere and then I found him.  He was behind a ledge.  He wouldn’t eat me.  I didn’t know why.

Then he gave a lonesome roar.  I didn’t know why he gave that lonesome cry.  He didn’t want to eat me.  I didn’t like this, because I thought he would slash me apart.  But he didn’t  I guessed he wanted a friend.  I felt bad for him.

The End
